approach

imaginative but practical: Successful garden design needs to be both imaginative and practical. Beauty and  horticulture - an understanding of what grows best where - need to inform choices about layout and plants.  My designs are imaginative but don't ignore constraints of site conditions or budget.

personalized: Your landscape is an extension of your home; it should be a source of joy and a simple way to connect with the natural world . This is best achieved when the design process is collaborative and personalized. I offer their expertise, but keep a client's wish list and priorities in mind when offering ideas and solutions.

reliable: Quality maintenance is consistent and detail-oriented. Regular, expert care ensures the long-term health and beauty of your landscape and ultimately saves money. Good communication means clients know what, when and how work gets done. I manage the maintenance for you, but you  choose the amount of care that suits your priorities and budget.

garden education

parent-child gardening classes: My "Peapod" classes are for pre-school and elementary age children and their caregivers. They take place entirely outdoors, in my home gardens. I offer them for private groups of families or youth groups as a single visit or a series of multiple classes. Children (and grownups!) learn about gardening and nature through hands-on garden tasks, nature-based activities and free play.  I started Peapod classes during Covid to meet the demand for safe, enriching activities that allowed kids to play and socialize in an outdoor setting. As "garden playdates", Peapod classes continue to be a unique way that families with young children can gather for some fun and green therapy. Select "Peapod Parent-Child Classes" in the Work drop-down menu above for more details or send me an email at peapodgardenplay@gmail.com
